25 tidbits about me...

I think this challenge is supposed to be 100 random things about yourself, but that's a lot to think about, for me anyway. It's not easy! So, I will do it in increments of 25. How about that?
(Side note...I just did this on Facebook, but I altered this list, so it's not an exact repeat for the ONE of you who read it :)



1. Every time I see a sunflower, I think of my grandpa. I decorated my kitchen in them so I am always reminded of his life.
2. I love donating blood! I feel good knowing I did something to help someone else. It gets me down when I am turned away, which, thankfully has only happened twice. I feel special because I have the right blood type to donate Double Red Cells.
3. I passed out once from donating. Lucky for me, it was a work blood drive, and I was working in a hospital so there was plenty of nurses and doctors around. (though embarrassing) In fact, one of the nurses saw it coming before I did!
4. One of the easiest, yet scariest things I have done, was move to Texas. I knew, without a doubt, that I had to go. It was a harder decision to move back to Utah.
5. My eyeliner is permanent.
6. I have been hospitalized for depression, and things people do when they aren't thinking clearly. Even though I fought my counselor on this, and it was one of the scariest experiences of my life, I can now honestly look back and say that I am grateful for it. Only 4 of my closest friends and my counselor knew.
7...is my favorite number.
8. I currently have a 4.0 GPA in school. If.....I mean WHEN I get an A for my externship, I will graduate on the President's List!
9. I really want to adopt a child (or 2 or 3 or 5). I have personally seen God's hand in adoption. I have seen the change that takes place when providing a child a life free from fear that a child should never know.
10. I have been sponsoring a 14 year old girl living in the Philippines for over 2 years now. Her name is Jellin. Someday, we will meet. I'm sure I will cry on that day. She has deeply enriched my life. I LOVE getting letters from her and seeing how she is progressing.
11. Some of my best friends have children my age.
12. I was on the Colorguard in High School.
13. Even though one of my greatest friends grew up 45 miles from me, we did not meet until we both moved to Texas. We both felt like we knew each other all our lives. We just needed to catch up on lost years. I truly believe that we were friends before coming to this earth. Knowing her has made me feel closer to Heaven. It is a great feeling!
14. I have/had the GREATEST grandparents anyone could ever ask for! I have always felt safe with them.
15. Watching my grandpa hold my grandmas hand during her last hours on this earth was one of the hardest things I have ever witnessed.
16. I am strengthened knowing my family is forever, and I will see them again.
17. Autumn is my favorite season.
18. There was a time I disliked Christmas. It's only been the last couple of years I have truly enjoyed it.
19. I love to drive, even though right now I am a little paranoid of other drivers.
20. Being the center of attention makes me uncomfortable, even on my birthday. (But I am getting better about it).
21. I love a good rainstorm, but not traveling in it. Texas had the BEST rainstorms!
22. If my dad ever needs a kidney transplant, I hope I am a match.
23. One of my favorite memories is laying on the front lawn with my dad on a cool spring/summer evening.
24. I like being tall.
25. I bawled the first few times I heard the song "Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride...and again when I saw the music video. It still saddens me to hear it. This goes back to #9.

Say What???

I got a letter in the mail within the last couple of days, that I did not see until today. It is from Bristol West Insurance Group...the insurance that is being held liable for my accident.
I quote...

"As the vehicle owner, you have a responsibility to attempt to keep your damages to a minimum."

What??? Did I read this right?? I don't believe I had any say as to how much damages occurred. At first, I laughed, but as I have thought about it, it became a little upsetting. Are they saying that I don't need to get my car fixed so that it is back to how it should be? Am I misunderstanding this? This wasn't my fault, nor could I have avoided it. Since accidents are recorded on a car history report, the value of my car dropped. I would like to have it back in shape so I can drive it for many years. It isn't even an older car...it's an '07...
If they think they aren't going to pay for it, they have another thing coming.

So...DID I misunderstand? Am I paranoid for no reason? A bit confused, maybe??
I don't know....





(I promise, I will get over this and move on to happier subjects. This, too, shall pass).

The Verdict

My car has over $7000 in damages. Wow.

Since I am going through MY insurance, and they will get the money back, they say go ahead and fix it. *happy dance*

Pete sounds pretty competent that he can fix anything, and he said he will have it good as new. He is going to call me every week to give me an update, and it should be ready by the 17th of February. They may not have it that long, cause they got a good start on it, but that is the date they are aiming for. It's a bummer it will take that long, but I'm glad they are taking the time to fix it right.

As for myself, I had 6 X-Rays today of my spine and all is well. I didn't expect anything to be wrong, I mainly went to the doc for muscle relaxers and pain killers, which I got, as well as an anti-inflammatory. They are helping a bunch!

So, it was a good-news day!

Car for sale...any takers??

I dropped off my car today. One of the very first things the fixer guy said was "It doesn't look promising".
I wanted to cry. :(
"Pete" said after talking to me on the phone, he expected less damage than what he now believed. He said it was pushed forward pretty far and may have bent the frame, but he won't know for sure until he looks inside. It also looks as though my car is leaking in the front as well as the back, so the seals on the power train may be broken. (This is judging from the spots left on my driveway).
Pete says he is not in the business of totaling cars, but it all comes down to the insurance company, and what they say it's worth.

I should know tomorrow.

Pain, pain, go away...

...and DON'T come back another day...

I said on the police report that I wasn't injured. Well, I believe I am. It's nothing major. I'm not going to the doctor unless it gets worse. But, my neck is rather sore! It's not the back of my neck, as whiplash would indicate. It's the front (right side) that constantly ACHES, and really tender, hurts to tilt my head, etc. If I remember correctly from my anatomy class, it is my sternocleidomastoid muscle. (That is quite a word!)

Anyway, that's it.

...but I'm OK!

I am one week shy of having my car for a year. Today *sniff sniff* she got hit. I was making a right turn in West Jordan when the gal behind me decided I didn't turn fast enough. The impact seemed a lot harder than it probably was. However, it did move things around. My cell phone, which was in a holder in the front, ended up on the backseat. The garage door opener, which was clipped to my visor, actually came apart and flew to the backseat. Everything in my car ended up in a different spot. The craziest thing, however, was my seat. It started out upright and ended up practically laying flat. I didn't even realize that until I got back in my car. This all happened right in front of a cop. Do you think he stopped? Oh no...he drove right on past!
My car got the worst of it, which I suppose is a good thing. The other car was a rental. The girl driving it was in an accident just last week. Poor thing, her insurance company is going to love her!
My bumper didn't come completely off...the cop who DID come decided to rip it off so I could drive home. All in all, I don't think the damage is as bad as it could have been. Only one tail light is cracked, and even though the back driver side door is stuck, the door itself is okay; but the trunk won't open. So really, all it needs is a new back end. :)
...Of course, I will be out of a car for a while :( I'm just grateful nobody got hurt.

If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies
